Q: How did your school get its start ?
A: In the patio of a house with three used typewriters on top of a board over two empty buckets of paint.
Q: Doesn't Mexico or the state of Baja have public schools ?
A: Yes, but they all charge tuition because the government only pays for the teachers salary, but every other school expense is paid by the students.
Q: What is the average number of students you get each year ? What is the maximum ?
A: We have an average of 75 students, our maximum is 80.
Q: Where do your students come from ?
A: The poorest areas of Tijuana.
Q: What is the age of your students or school grades ?
A: Ages 12 through 17. Grades equivalent of 7th, 8th & 9th.
Q: If the families are so poor, how do the students get to school across town ?
A: We look for sponsors who pledge to help with money for transportation, uniforms school supplies, etc.
Q: Is yours a certified school ?
A: Yes, we are accredited by the Department of Education and our accreditation is renewed yearly.
Q: Where does the funding come from to operate the school ?
A: All donations are from the public (Individuals, Clubs, Churches, Foundations, etc.)
Q: How large of a staff do you have ?
A: Annually 25 - 35 ( Teachers, office staff and maintenance)
Q: Where is the school located in Tijuana ?
A: In the NW part of town, in Colonia Aleman. The address is Calla Mar Hudson 5204 Col. Aleman., Tijuana. Right across the border highway of U.S. & Mexico.
Q: What kind of subjects do you teach at the school ?
A: The curriculum of Secondary Schools plus technical subjects to enable our students to get jobs in Mexico.
Q: Who are some of your donors and sponsors ?
A: Individuals, Churches, Business clubs such as Rotary, Soroptimist Clubs & Kiwanas.
Q: Are donations to the school tax deductable in U.S. ?
A: Yes, our U.S. California Tax Exemption Corporate number is 0513871.
